Yo Timmy. I worked with you and Cactus at electric
lady from 1971 - 1973. I was closest to Rusty but used to hang with all of you. I suppose you don't remember who I am but I am sure glad I got to be close to you guys. I was the guy passing around the little hash pipe backstage at the garden when you opened for The Faces w/Rod. Rock On.!!!

mr. bogert, how does one explain your ability to make fretboard insanity sound amazing? how is it that you rock so and still provide inspiration to new bands? some questions are meant to go unanswerred. keep the rock alive.

You made it alright to play the bass...before I saw you with Vanilla Fudge, I thought it was like being the right fielder in little league. I'm glad to see you get your due. Rock 'til you die!

Tim, First got exposed to your music while sitting on my front porch in Ridgefield, N.J. I grew up on Shaler Blvd. across from your house. My two biggest memories of you then are the Ed Sullivan Show and when came back to town to visit your parents on a brand new Harley. You took the time to speak to the kids in the neighborhood. I got an autograph. Sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. She was a wonderful person. She always kept me current on what you were doing. She was very hip when speaking about sessions with Rod Stuart. Enough with the past, lots of luck with all current and future projects.

Hey, Tim! Long time since I've been to your site. Looking forward to hearing DBA! CBA rocks, so one can only imagine! Hey, how about "Hang On Sloopy" done in the same groove as "Parchman Farm"...that could be interesting! Hope to see you next time you're on the east coast. Happy Holidays!

Hey, I just watched one of your instructional videos (Rock Bass 1), and I'm going to buy all your videos. I was learning bass around 20 years ago but then switched to drums then quit music. Now I want to go back as a hobby and I really dig the bass. Keep on rocking.

Hey Tim a word on the old days...saw you in 71 in Memphis you guys opened for Deep Purple at the Shell. I was 16 and to me you guys (Cactus) kicked their butts. Glad to hear you are still rocking and napster gave me your old tunes to enjoy. Had that poster from the Electric Lady Studio and was inspired to have some red eyes.

Been a fan of yours for a looooong time!! I'm especially a fan of Cactus. Listen to Cactus all of the time. Saw you guys in Phoenix in'71, you opened for Quick Silver Messenger Service. Blew them right off the stage!! On the Cactology CD there's a live cut of "Parchment Farm". Do you have access or know of any live Cactus tapes? I would kill to have them in my collection!! Keep on rockin!!

Hey Tim,
When I was a 19 year old "Tim Bogert bass wannabe" playing in a little rock quartet in St. Louis, MO in 1970 , I drove down saw you and the Fudge in concert at University of Arkansas fieldhouse (Razorback Stadium)and was blown away! You had been "hammering" bass strings long before the "Seinfeld" sound...still amazed at how fast you could rip off bass lines in "Break Song"...you're the best, Tim! Do us old Fudge freaks a favor and get the VF back on tour again! You would absolutly blow away all these young 2000 rockers who think they're so original... Best always, Greg

Hi Tim,
I've listened to you for many years(Vanilla Fudge,Cactus,Beck Bogert& Appice...)but haven't heard abuot you in some time. I found your web page as a result of a search for info on Quick Silver Messenger Service. It took reading all of the messages that are posted to realize the link to your web site was contained in one of the comments left by a fan that saw you perform with Cactus in'71 in Pheonix(?). Ya'll opened for Quick Silver. The internet is a really wonderful thing !

As someone who picked up his first guitar at age 12 and is now looking at the big Five-Oh this year, I'm always glad to know that the real players keep playing regardless of Old Father Time. As always, it's a not a young person's game, it's a MUSICIAN's game. All the best for DBA. Keep rockin'!

Tim - When I was a 14 yr old in Scotland in 1967, my friend gave me "You Keep Me Hanging On" in a record swap. I didn't really know Vanilla Fudge then, but that song really did it for me. I loved that song so much. I STILL love THAT SONG - THAT BASS ! But, stupidly, I later gave the record to a girl I REALLY fancied and I never saw it again ! I still look out for the song in record shops even yet. But, I guess it just keeps me hanging on ! ...... Best regards

Tim,back in the sixties i was in a band from Jersey. We were pretty much centered on Mowtown stuff. You guys pretty much changed the picture. I just wanted to say hi and tell you that some things just do'nt change. I still listen to the Vanilla Fudge. I came across your web site looking for the chords and the bass tabs for "Take me for a little while",but ca'nt find them. Either way it's good to see that you're still around and having a good time. Tim, I recently purchased a bass guitar from a guitar show in the Chicago area. The bass is a Precision Bass body, P J pick-up configuration, stacked knobs and blonde finish. The neck is an old Telecaster Bass neck. It looks exactly like the one you played in Vanilla Fudge. I know this is a longshot, but I was wondering if you still had that particular guitar, or perhaps you sold it or it was stolen from you. It just seems strange that this guitar looks exactly like yours.

Your music has been like a lightning bolt between my eyes since 1969. To this day, Renaissance by Vanilla Fudge is one of my all time favorite albums.
I will be checking to see if there are any sites that go into detail on your bass technique. Kinda funny how passionate bass playing works so nicely on acoustic sets too, by the way. Don Woodhouse bands: JuDon, 5 & 20, "Bill Topor"

Hi Tim,
I've been a big fan of yours since the Fudge days. I just recently discovered your web site. When I saw it for the first time, BOY did it take me back! When I was a kid, I used to plunk around on a Fender Precision in my local neighborhood bands, trying to pick out your solo riffs. As a naive kid, I used to think I could imitate some of your solos pretty well. Then, I saw you live in Memphis, TN at a Cactus concert. Your playing simply BLEW ME AWAY! I couldn't believe how good you were. Then, I heard you in BBA with your unbelievable vocal range sung simultaneously with your complicated bass lines, which to this day, leaves my jaw dropping. As for me, I quit playing and studied engineering! Anyway, I would like to thank you for what you have contributed to the electric bass throughout your career. I am convinced that if it weren't for your pioneering on the front (bass) lines back in the early days, we would not have have all the great technical bass players that we have today. I would also like to thank you for the many years of listening pleasure that you have provided me with your inventive and powerful playing style. I hope to hear more great music from you in the future. Take care. I wish you the best. Your humbled fan, Bob Hall

I enjoyed your music from Cactus times and believe that Cactus is the best, from what I have heards in Russia. To my surprize you are in a perfect shape, which I conclude from your recent DBA cd.
Good luck and looking forward to hear you performing one day in Russia. Best regards.

Tim......
How about another tour? Personally, I've been a fan since 67. Caught you guys most recently at Westbury Music Fair in 99. (You CAN go home again!) I couldn't believe how great you guys sounded, and the audience response should be telling you something too. (Go out on tour!) I also think you are about the best, most innovative, bass player I ever saw. I loved the Fudge, I loved Cactus (what's Jim McCarty up to these days?) I loved BBA, and I would have loved to have seen you play with Leslie West. I remember sharing a beer and a cigarette more than once with you down in Leone's in the early 70's. You are a TRUE talent and you should be out there! Best of luck in all your endeavors whatever they are.

Tim,
Just found your site! Thanks for putting it up. It's great! We did meet many years ago backstage at the Municiple Auditorium in Atlanta when you and Carmine were with Beck. We traded beers for cigarettes out of your bowling ball bag... I still remember (amazingly)! Anyway keep me posted about the thing with Rick. He's another one of my inspirations. Come to Atlanta and we will rock. Later, Mark

Tim,
Great to find this site....I was listening to the1st Vanilla Fudge record tonite ad thought I would check to see if a web site exists for the VF. Boy where does one start... I grew up on Long Island where I was first introduced to the Fudge...living in NY was a great place back in the 60's to see lots of great bands and players. I have followed you in BBA....but life being what it is, I kinda lost track.... I see from your picture above that you played with Leslie... I only got to see him once, I think it was at the Electric Circus.... I have since moved to LA and now in Portland, OR. Do you ever do gigsin Portland? Le me know cause I'd love to see ya play again.. Later
